Busy Mom’s Guide to Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning can be time consuming, so not everyone has the chance to be as thorough as they would like as they spring clean. This spring cleaning checklist will skip the deep cleaning, and go straight for the visible parts of your home. With the help from Sears Clean, Here is basic to-do list to get your home in ship-shape with a limited amount of time.

Kitchen

This room can be tricky because messes are rampant in this room of the house. Not only are there messes left over from cooking meals, but also all kinds of grime from messy eaters. To clean this room quickly, focus on counters, floors, and cooking appliances. Use warm water and detergent to scrub down these surfaces, as well as mop the floor. Go over the stove, oven, and microwave with a sponge as well to get any residue out.

Living Room

This is the part of the house that your family will most likely spend the most time in, and it shows. Start at the top and work your way down in this part of the house. Start with the fixtures, such as dusting high shelves or fans. Then grab some cleaning supplies and wash the TV screen, as well as any windows. Finally, vacuum the floors in order to remove any pet hair or dust that have worked their way in. This will not do as much as a deep cleaning, but it can get the job done quickly. Vacuuming should be saved for last in the living room in order to pick up any dust or debris that may have fallen down during the previous steps.

Bathrooms

These rooms can also be time consuming, so focus on porcelain, floors, and fixtures. Be sure to make the porcelain shine just like it did after spring cleaning last year. Toilet bowl cleaner or a foam bathroom cleaner can help do the trick here. Wipe down any metal fixtures, such as faucets and light fixtures, so that they really shine. Finally, mop the floor to pickup and debris that was left over from the previous steps.

Entryways

These rooms are the first that people see when they enter your home. Grab some carpet cleaner to get rid of any dirt because this is often a high traffic space. Grab some window cleaner and rub the windows and doors down as well. Make sure to get rid of any clutter as well, such as accumulated mail or winter coats.
