Yesterday I did a post on how to make homemade chalk using McCormick Food Coloring and I mentioned that I was going to attempt making home made play dough with my daughter today. In all honesty, I surprised myself because I actually did find the time to make it AND it came out how it was supposed to.
Making the play dough was SUPER easy and quick, a little messy, but I guess that’s what being two years old is all about, right? So, check out my slideshow of us making the clay and be sure to try it at home! (see recipe below slideshow)
Ingredients
-
1 cup flour
-
1/2 cup salt
-
1 tablespoon oil
-
1 teaspoon McCormick Cream of Tartar
-
1 cup water
Directions
Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar and oil, and slowly add the water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until dough becomes stiff. Remove from pot and knead the playdough with your hands until of proper consistency. Divide into four balls and place each ball of playdough in a plastic sandwich bag*. Add about 5-10 drops of McCormick Food Coloring to each bag depending on the richness of the color you desire. While in the plastic bag, knead dough and food coloring together until completely blended. Store in an airtight container.
*If you prefer to knead the color in by hand, use gloves! ENJOY!!
