Homemade food can be a great way for two people to bond together, they can either make it together or have one cook for the other, either way, it shows a lot of care and attention if it is done right!

A huge plus to homemade cooking is that you can save money and customize the meal to your liking. You can pick up the ingredients from your local shop, which can cost you a lot less if you go for discounted items or have a shop card that takes a percentage off, and you do not have to worry about paying for a serving charge or giving a tip.

If it is just you cooking, you can ask the other exactly what they like so you can make the meal to the specifications they give you, making it special. Or they can make their own dish and bring it so you both have contributed to the meal, which can be very romantic.

Despite the highs of making homemade food, there are some downsides when it comes to rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in. It can be time-consuming to cook a complicated meal, and it may not turn out as well as you hoped.

Depending on what you are making, there is a chance that it can be very time consuming and take up a lot of your day which can be very tiring and frustrating, especially if it does not turn out the way you hoped it would. You may end up just ordering a pizza if it goes completely wrong, which is not bad, but it is not what you had in mind when deciding to do a ‘romantic’ homemade meal.

Going to a restaurant can sound like a great first date idea, it is romantic, there is an ambiance about the place, and you get waited on, but it may not be perfect for all.

The positives about going to a fine dining restaurant are that someone else does the cooking, so you can relax and enjoy each other’s company.

You do not have to worry about getting up and down each time to check on the food, you are not distracted, and you can just be together enjoying each other’s company.

Another plus is that, depending on the restaurant, it can look incredibly classy and beautiful, creating a perfect setting to be romantic in. The decor and style can make your other half feel special and excited about going somewhere elegant.

There are a few lows about going to a restaurant, and that is that it can be expensive, and you may not have as much control over what you are eating. This would not be a great first date for students or someone who cannot be free with their money.

Good restaurants can be costly, and it is not worth it to spend such a high amount on food that you may not even like.

Really exclusive restaurants can have a limited menu, so if there is something on there you do not like, you are not able to pick another choice as you are confined to what they offer. May be great for your date, but not for you.

So, which is better? It depends on your preferences. If you are a good cook and want to save money, making a meal at home is probably the way to go.

But if you want to relax and not worry about the food, going out to eat is probably the better choice. Either way, a romantic meal for two persons can be a great way to spend some quality time together.
