From the BornFree site –
A growing body of evidence suggests that the chemical bisphenol A may leach from bottles and cups made of polycarbonate plastic and that this compound can act as an endocrine disrupter, a substance that mimics human hormones*. The Born Free™ bottles are made of Polyamide PA, a form of nylon, instead of polycarbonate-containing plastic.
Born Free™ also utilizes a proprietary venting system which helps reduce vacuum pressure, which helps eliminate gas and spit up. The venting systems have also been shown to assist in the reduction of risk for middle ear infections (Brown and Magnuson, 2000). These products are made from a honey-colored plastic that is dishwasher safe (top rack). Born Free™ products are endorsed by the Children’s Health Environment Coalition.

I recently had the opportunity to try out products from Born Free, a company that specializes in producing smart and safe baby products! They were kind enough to send me some bottles to try out and a new teether/gum brush they just came out with for infants who are teething, and my little girl just happens to be going through a rough time with that, so these teethers are somewhat of a lifesaver for me! Now if you are not familiar with Born Free products, let me fill you in on the details…
Born Free products are free of potentially dangerous chemicals Bisphenol-A (BPA), Phthalates andPVC. Bisphenol-A is a dangerous chemical that mimics estrogen and is used in the production of polycarbonate plastics and is found in most baby products. According to researchers, BPA can cause developmental and neurological problems when leached from plastics. This can be especially dangerous when you store or heat baby food in containers that contain BPA.

Born Free, a manufacturer of natural baby products, recently sent me some of their bottles, and a formula dispenser to try out with my 8 month old son. I must admit I am still using my old bottles from 2 years ago, and I really need to make the switch to BPA-free bottles, so this was the perfect opportunity!
The Born Free bottles are BPA-free, and they also come equipped with an air vent to help with eliminating colic and its symptoms. They come in two sizes, 5 oz. and 9 oz. Overall, I thought the bottle was easy to clean, and easy to handle for my son. And, knowing that he is ingesting formula from a BPA -free product makes me feel better too! The Born Free BPA-free formula dispenser I received is convenient for throwing in your purse or diaper bag when heading out. The Born Free dispenser is actually a little larger than others that I have seen, and can hold formula for up to 3 – 9 oz. bottles. It is available in blue, green, orange, and pink. And, because of its curved design it is easier to clean then others! Another added bonus!

I recently had the chance to review a couple products from Born Free. BornFree™ specializes in producing smart and safe baby products. BornFree™ has developed a range of products baby bottles, cups and accessories that is totally free of the potentially dangerous chemicals Bisphenol-A (BPA), Phthalates and PVC.
The first product was the Orthodontic Silicone Pacifier
New from BornFree™, the BPA-Free Pacifier for Day and Night Use is an orthodontic silicone pacifier with a flexible handle that retains its shape and doesn’t hamper sleep. Made from materials that are 100% free of Bisphenol-A, Phthalates and PVC, the BornFree™ pacifier also features an orthodontic collapsible teat that encourages the natural development of baby’s teeth and gums and a breathable shield to reduce skin irritation and protect sensitive skin.
Rush took to these pacifiers…and he’s not really a pacifier guy. My favorite thing about them was the flexible handle. Now only does it not hamper sleep but it seemed much easier for him to pick up.
The next product was the Born Free Training Cup.
The first ever, BornFree™ Bisphenol-A Free plastic training cup, with a low vacuum valve, designed to create a free flow of liquid for your child’s comfort.
When I handed Rush the Trainer cup, he knew exactly what to do with it. He grabbed the handles and put it right into his mouth. You can also take the handles off and use it more like a bottle. With a soft spout it was similar to his bottles and made it easier for him to realize what he was supposed to do with it. It didn’t leak either which was great. I’ve tried similar products over the years with my other children and they always seemed to get to much milk from the spout.
