While I was conducting last month’s sunscreen review, I realized that Banana Boat is under the same parent company as Playtex. So of course, I went straight to the baby supplies section of their website to see what kind of interesting products they had to offer.
I like to focus on products that are unique from everything else on the market, so I was really excited when I spotted the Baby Einstein eat & discover line. I’ve been a fan of the Baby Einstein collection since our son was born—we have many of their books, cds, and toys—but I’m most excited about these products. There were two particular products that stuck out too me as being multi-functional…and perfect for my little guy in particular.
So, Playtex offered to send me some to sample. Let me tell you…I was like a little kid when my package arrived. I am so excited about both of these because they offer so much more than just a fancy plate or bowl.
The mealtime tray and the on-the-go bowl both provide individual compartments that keep food separate, which is perfect for fussy eaters. But what I love about these products are the educational and developmental benefits they offer. Each compartment has a different color lid with either an animal or word on top….perfect for building color recognition and language development. In fact, I can’t wait to show these to my son’s speech therapist because I think they’d be such wonderful tools for her to use as well. The idea of an easy to open lid on each compartment also helps with fine motor skill development and the ability to follow simple instructions…a few skills we’re also working on with our hyperactive little guy. I tell him to open the blue lid and he finds a special treat. (usually a piece of dried fruit) What a wonderful way to introduce discovery and skill development to toddlers!
Playtex also offers Baby Einstein Eat & Discover cups, bowls, plates, utensils and placemats. Any of these products would be perfect for baby’s first birthday or other holiday gifts. You can find them online at www.playtexstore.com or at most baby supply stores for about $7 for the bowl and $10 for the tray.
