What did you do before Invitation Consultants was created?
I interned in marketing and public relations while earning my MBA. Then I worked in the marketing field for a catalog company and financial marketing company. I did not have years and years of experience, as I started my business at 23.
What has been some of your greatest successes or challenges?
Being able to manage through the hard times, meaning the recession, and keeping our team’s spirits up – especially after we had a layoff in 2008. That was the hardest time for the company. Yet the greatest success was coming out of it with a happy motivated team that could grow again. And we have.
How do you manage your daily schedule of being a MomPrenuer and a mom?
I am honest with my kids about work, they know I am more than a mom, I have a business too. They sometimes visit the office. They ask me about new projects and even give me great ideas.
My husband and mom along with myself work hard to make sure all 3 kids are where they need to be. I still use a paper daily planner, and my daily schedule is mapped out. Everyone knows where they need to be. I am a serious multi-tasker and this is the way I love life.
For moms, “Me time” is hard to come by.. what do you do during your “Me time”?
I love interior design – reading, researching and watching tv shows. I always have a home project going on. I just finished my kitchen after 2 years of renovating it. I also love to read, research and watch tv shows about travel. I am definitely a city traveler.
What’s next for Invitation Consultants? Any big plans for 2011 or 2012? Any chance we could get some “sneak peek” info or images?
We are building our in-house brand and our product offerings. We are also working with fabulously talented designers to build our community of guest designers.
