It should be noted that, by law, there are very few electrical jobs you can undertake yourself at home.

It’s a good idea to chat with a qualified and reputable electrician Sydney before you start any project. They can help ensure you comply with the law and that the installation is done safely.

Know Your LED Lights

LED lights come in various forms. It is possible to purchase LED bulbs that can simply replace your original bulbs.

All you have to do is select an LED bulb the same size and with the same fitting as your standard bulb and switch them over.

You should note that Led bulbs use significantly less power. You can get a 9W LED bulb that offers the same brightness as a traditional 40W bulb.

But, this isn’t the only way in which you can introduce LED lighting into your home. It’s also possible to purchase strips of LED lights. These are generally connected to a plug and can be put almost anywhere.

Installing LED Lights

Installing LED lights is surprisingly simple:

Decide The Format

The first step is to decide if you want LED bulbs or an LED strip. If it’s bulbs then you may be able to just replace your existing bulb which is a very simple process.

You may also prefer to replace the light fitting. This means finding one that you like and contacting your electrician.

They will disconnect the existing one and fasten the new one to the ceiling while connecting the relevant wires.

If you’ve decided to go for LED strips then you can purchase as many as you like and daisy-chain them together.

However, you’ll need to pay attention to the manufacturer’s instructions regarding how many can be linked.

You’ll also want to check the voltage. LED lights are usually either 12V or 24V, you need to make sure all the strips are the same voltage and the transformer is designed to match this voltage.

If you don’t you’re likely to blow the lights when you first turn them on.

Fix In Position

LED lights can be placed in position with a little blu-tac. This will help to ensure you are happy with the location. Plug them in and verify this.

Once you are sure, simply peel the film off the back of the LED strip and the adhesive will be revealed. You can stick this to your furniture, walls, or even the floor.

Connect each strip to the next via the provided terminals and then turn them on to make sure they work.

That’s it! You can now enjoy your LED lights.
