I have never mixed cereal and oatmeal together.. call me crazy but the mixture just didn’t sound the least bit appealing to me but it seemed like it was the thing to do and everyone raved about how good it was.. so I couldn’t resist and had to try it. I like and eat them both, so why not try them mixed.
Then a company called MojaMix contacted me to see if I wanted to do a review and thought this would be a good way to make my own custom cereal and try something new.
If you aren’t familiar with MojaMix, it is a new green start-up in Berkeley, California, that works with sustainable local farmers for their ingredients, many of which are organic. Their interactive website is very easy to use making it a breeze to create your own cereal mix, personalize the packaging and place your order. One cool feature is the real-time Nutrition Facts calculator that allows you to add or subtract different ingredients till you reach your desired amount or percentage of sugar, calories, proteins, etc.
As I said the website makes it really easy to create your own custom cereal, but if you’re like me and need step-by-step instructions, here they are:
1.) The first step is to create your base ingredients. From granola to OATS, to flakes, to crisps there is something for everyone and you can choose if you want more or less of any ingredient.
2.) Next step is to choose your fruits. This is where I had a hard time because I love fruit in my cereal and MojaMix has a great selection of yummy fruits to choose from.
3.) The last step is to choose your nuts and seeds. I dont prefer to have seeds in my cereal so I stuck with the nuts.. but add what you like. You can choose from walnuts (my pick), pistachios, peanuts, coconut, chocolate covered coffee beans, flax seed, sunflower seed, and more.
Once you’re done created your mix name it, add a quote if you’d like (also a great way to send a message if you’re giving it as a gift) and submit it.
This is very cool and one of mixes I created is now one of my favorite cereals.. you can eat it cold or warm, wet or dry. I always take some with me when we’re out and about because it’s a great healthy snack. Tastes yummy!
