1 in 5 kids doesn’t have enough to eat. That’s a sad statistic, and it surprised the kids we told in the new Conagra Hunger video. But then you add the phrase “…in the United States” to that statistic, and that’s when the reality really hits. America is a big diverse country. Some people have a lot, and some people have very little. These children were uncomfortable knowing that their friends and neighbors might be on the hungry end of that spectrum. And they wanted to know how to change it.
It’s easy to wait for governments and lawmakers to make positive changes for us. After all, we ask ourselves “What can I do about these problems?” But in reality, you can do quite a lot. It’s when people like you and me make specific changes to America’s food problem that the entire food culture of the country can become more about feeding and less about being fed. ConAgra has a lot of specific suggestions about how you can make a difference to people in your neighborhood, and around the nation.
If you can volunteer at a food bank, donate canned goods to places that distribute them to the needy, or collect food or money from others, you can feed dozens, hundreds, or even more people who would otherwise be a little hungrier. Don’t know where to start? ConAgra has a lot of resources to share:

The kids in the video have a lot of other ideas about how to make a difference in a hungry American’s life. Everybody deserves better than hunger. With a little effort, cooperation, and inspiration, we can all find ways to make our country a place where everybody has what they need to live and enjoy life.
