The Calico Critters Deluxe Village House is a signature piece of the Calico Critters collection by International Playthings. It is a 3-story home that has nine rooms for your little princess to design and decorate. The real-life attention to detail includes spiral staircase, front porch railing and steps, second story balcony and attachable front porch lanterns. It also includes bay windows, upstairs French doors and a front door that opens and closes. It measures 17″ x 17.5″ x 17″. Out of the box it comes already assembled, except for detailed accessories. For ages 3 and up.
Because our twins were small I had our neighbor’s daughter come over and try out the deluxe house set. Her family doesn’t have a lot and she herself doesn’t have a lot of toys to play with so she often comes over to play
with the babies. She gets such a kick out of it and I knew she’d love to play with the Calico Critters Village. So when she came over I had it all set up and ready to play with so I could surprise her when she walked in.
She had such a ball playing with it. I enjoyed watching her and playing along with her while the babies slept. There was plenty of room to set everything up and still move the characters around. She loved that the doors and windows actually open up in the house. She kept opening and closing them so the critters could get some “fresh air”.
What seemed like a few hours of playing turned in to about 5 hours and her mom was knocking on the door making sure everything was okay and that her daughter wasn’t bothering us or keeping us from doing anything. Once I showed her mom what we were up to she was pleased to see her little girl having such a good time.
The house itself was very sturdy and everything, including the little critters, are more adorable in person. The only bad thing I found was that some of the accessories are pretty tiny. The items that were too small I tucked away just in case because I didn’t want something to accidentally happen and have her mother not allow her to come over any more.
