Bradford Exchange: St. Louis Cardinals Electric Train Set Review

Disclosure: I received a free product in exchange for this review. All opinions are 100% my own ~ good or bad.

Based in Chicago, IL Bradford Exchange is a well-known company and has been for many years. I was honored that they would allow us to do a review on this St. Louis Cardinals Electric Train Set. We also included this in our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide, and it is available for other teams as well.

My side of the family are huge fans of the St. Louis Cardinals. We always have been. I was so excited to for my family to see this, especially my grandfather who is not only the biggest Cardinals fan but also a hug train lover. Needless to say when we got this in the mail and he saw what it was, he was like a little kid on Christmas morning. We couldn’t wait to get it set up to see it in action.

My husband on the other hand was not thrilled to see this. His side of the family are all Chicago Cubs fans. Yes, our house gets pretty interested when the two teams play each other! Though he did agree this train was pretty cool.

This particular train set is modeled from when the Cardinals won the world series in 2006. I remember being so excited and calling my grandfather on the phone discussing the game afterwards. The end of that game was really up and down and filled with lots of emotions.

The set features the Diesel Locomotive, Diesel Engine, and World Series Champions Passenger Car. Plus, you also receive the FREE 16-piece track set, power pack, and the Summer Crossing Gate & Block Signal Train Accessory Set – which is valued at over $100.

Full features of this electronic train set include:

  • Officially licensed by Major League Baseball Properties, Inc. and the MLBPA
  • First-ever St. Louis Cardinals train set includes the Diesel Locomotive, Diesel Engine, and World Series Champions Passenger Car
  • Included FREE 16-piece HO gauge track set, power pack, and Summer Crossing Gate & Block Signal Train Accessory Set – together over a $100 value

  • The locomotive headlight and passenger train cars really light up for a fully illuminated display of the team’s symbolic imagery
  • The heirloom-quality trains are precisely scaled: train is designed to run on HO gauge track
  • Certificate of Authenticity is included for each set
  • Individual train cars run on HO train track, complete oval track measures 38″ x 56″; 96.5 cm x 142.2 cm

It’s a pretty good sized train set and we are still figuring out where to place this. The set is just beautiful though. The details are incredible. It’s awesome to see it circle around the tracks with all the lights lit up. There is even a headlight that works on the front of the train which the kids thought was pretty cool.

If you have a dedicated sports fan you’re shopping for, this is a great gift that I think they will love.

Once we get it all set up in the place we want, I hope to get some good pics of it in action and update this post to include those images.
