The Review

We are a video game loving family and play everything from racing to simulation type games. There are times when I want my kids to play something that is fun and educational. Yes I said educational. We are gamers who also love to learn.

Recently we were given the opportunity to try Bob the Builder: Can-Do Zoo by Brighter Minds Media. Kayla could not wait to give the game a try. We put the disc in and it loaded quickly. I was happy to see that the disc is compatible for both Mac and Windows. I am thinking about getting a Mac in the future and it is good to know that there is only 1 disc to keep up with. You are even able to choose if you want to play the game in English or Spanish.

When the game begins you are able to choose from Free Play or Story mode. Kayla decided to go with the free play. I noticed that wherever you placed the arrow Bob the Builder™ would say what it is. That is a big plus because it would help with reading and recognizing words. In free play mode you can choose from seven different games to play. Kayla liked that because she could play a game she really likes over and over if she want. And of course she already has a favorite. She loves to play the tool shed game which involves sorting. If you choose the story mode, Bob the Builder™ picks which games you are able to play. My kids prefer to play the free play mode.

My kids like Bob the Builder: Can-Do Zoo because it is a lot of fun and give it a thumbs up. Kayla was able to navigate through the site with no problems.

As a parent, I am happy about what this game has to offer my kids. Not only does Bob the Builder™ help them with critical thinking and problem solving, Bob the Builder™ congratulates your child when they do a good job. I like that Kayla was rewarded with a sticker when she completed a building achievement. There are over 100 stickers she can collect and place in her sticker book. This game also lets you choose the level of difficulty which is good when you have more than 1 child playing. A big plus for me is the sounds in the game were not annoying. With some kid games the sounds are just too much and I have to turn the sound off. I did not have to do that with this game.

Brighter Minds Media was kind enough to offer 1stopmom readers a great discount of $10 off orders of $15 or more. When you check out enter the code MM1008. This code is good until September 1, 2009 and is not valid with other offers.
