You use your bathroom for a variety of tasks, and it’s important you find ways to make your bathroom more inviting and relaxing. After all, it’s not just a place to get ready, but it’s also a place to relax and unwind from a long and stressful day.
Decorating a bathroom to be both practical and relaxing can be a difficult challenge. You obviously want to maximize storage space for all of those toiletries, but you also don’t want it to feel too cramped.
Thankfully, there are plenty of décor options for bathrooms that are not just elegant or lovely, but also useful and practical too. Check out some of the following five useful ideas for your bathroom décor. You may find that a little re-decorating inspires you to take your bathroom to the next level with drastic renovations. While certainly not as cost effective as the options listed below, a home equity line of credit can certainly help you out if you want take the renovation route
1. Chairs
When most people think about chairs, they tend to think of placing these items in the kitchen or living room; however, having a chair for the bathroom is also a great idea. Think about how nice it would be to have somewhere to sit when you’re getting ready. You can relax while you’re doing your hair and/or makeup. You can also use it to sit on while you put on socks or tights too. Plus, a chair is a great place to put your clothes, whether clean or dirty, while you’re showering so that they don’t sit on the floor or take up counter space. Chairs come in a variety of colors, sizes, styles, and materials, so even if you have a smaller bathroom, you may still be able to find a chair that fits.
2. Recessed Shelves
Adding storage space to your bathroom with shelves is always a great idea, but sometimes shelving units can stick out too far and make a room look cramped. Instead of using traditional shelving, you should use recessed shelves for your bathroom. These units are installed inside your wall (typically between two studs), which allows you to receive the storage space you need without taking up any additional space in the bathroom. These come in a variety of sizes, so you can choose something small to fit above your vanity, or you can opt for something bigger to use instead of (or in addition to) a closet.
3. Baskets
Baskets are probably one of the best décor options for bathrooms because they serve multiple purposes. First, the wicker material of a basket will not be damaged by the moisture from your bathroom, which means they’ll last as long as your bathroom is around. Second, they come in a variety of sizes and colors, so you can always find one that fits the style and size of your bathroom. Finally, they serve as a way to store bathroom necessities without taking up closet space or having them on display. For example, you can use a nice basket to store extra toilet paper. This way, when the roll runs out, it will be easy to add a new one (and it will be stylish too).
4. Rounded Shower Curtain
Having a huge shower is a dream for many homeowners, but sometimes due to the size of the bathroom, it’s not a dream that will come true. However, if you currently have a smaller shower, you don’t have to feel cramped forever. Instead, you should invest in a rounded shower curtain rod. These rods adhere to your shower the same way as straight traditional rods, only they provide more space. Instead of being cramped up between the wall and the shower curtain, the rounded rod will give you more arm space to do what you need to do in the shower. These come in a variety of sizes and styles, so you’ll easily be able to find one that matches your bathroom décor and shower size.
5. Tins/Jars
You have a lot of items in your bathroom, and most homeowners tend to just keep these items in their original packaging. However, this can take up a lot of cabinet or shelf space, and face it—it’s not pretty to look at. This is why it’s a good idea to use tins or jars for your bathroom necessities. Place items such as cotton balls, Q-tips, bandages, and other bathroom items inside tins or jars, and then put these items on shelves or on the counter. This will be much more attractive than a plastic box or bag, and it will decorate your bathroom while also serving a purpose.
