Summer break is just a few days away from us. I remember being a child and just couldn’t wait until summer came along and we didn’t have school every day, didn’t have to get up as early every day, didn’t have homework, etc. It was like heaven…
Now I realize what my parents went through with finding activities for us to do during the summer, finding child care for those working days, etc. Summer breaks for parents can be hectic but also exciting because schedules may tune down and bit, summer travel can be possible, and more quality time can be spent with the family.

5 Summer Toys for Kids (According To My Children)
One of the best things to me about summer was having fun outside playing with our new summer toys and going to all the activities that were going on. So my children have actually helped me with this article and gave me their list of their top 5 summer toys for kids.
An Awesome Swing Set Like No Other
It just can’t be any old swing set, it must be a super awesome swing set with some fun climbing activities that will make the whole neighborhood jealous… at least that’s what the kids say.
These electric scooters I’ve seen all over are on the top list as well. I think they are a pretty cool idea and probably just as dangerous as the trampoline. Some our family members are against this but don’t you remember being a child and the dangerous toys seemed to be the most fun? I definitely do, I was always a take the chances kind of kid.
More Nerf Guns? Is that possible? We have so many already and it’s one of our favorite family activities that we do.. Nerf gun wars! Not only does this get us all outside playing but we get some fun exercise out of it which is a great thing.
Water Slides or Pools
This was on our top list when I was a child as well.. there’s nothing better than playing in the pool or having fun on that slippery water slide during those hot summer days. At this age though, we are just learning how to swim so this one will probably be on our list for next year.. plus, we don’t really have the room for a big ole’ pool quite yet.
This has been on their wishlist for quite some time now. I loved jumping on a trampoline when I was kid. As an adult though, I realize how dangerous these can actually be. I mean you do read some horror stories when it comes to children getting hurt on these gigantic trampolines… so I’m torn with this decision on whether or not to get one.
So this was our list of top 5 summer toys for the summer that the kids chose. We have a few decisions to make though as we weigh out the pros and cons and what exactly we have room for. We have decent sized back yard but we also have trees which can make it a little tricky on picking things we have room for.
