Getting Ready for the 2016 Party Season

Party Season

Some people hate the winter months. They do not like getting cold and wet. I am with them there, I hate that too, but winter is not all bad. It takes a bit of effort to get up and out on a crisp morning, but it is worth it. Once you are up and out the winter landscape is interesting, and beautiful in its own way. I secretly like the colder months, but to be honest it is the fact it party season is the main reason I like this time of the year.

There is Halloween, quickly followed by Christmas parties, and New Year celebrations. Plus, the US traditions of Thanksgiving followed by the Black Friday sales are definitely taking hold over here, giving everyone the excuse for another party.

Bearing all of this in mind, I am definitely in the market for a couple of new party dresses. So, am planning a big shopping trip soon, probably on Black Friday, so I can take advantage of the low prices. To get ready I have been browsing online to see what is available, below is my roundup of what I have seen.

Glitzy Party Dresses

I am a sucker for a little bit of glitz. Nothing too over the top, but putting on something that looks a little different from what you could wear day to day gets you in the party mood.
This year there are some lovely embroidered and beaded dresses in the shop. Textures are interesting too, with lace still being popular. This style is great for smoothing out your silhouette, and flattering the figure.

Cut wise there is plenty of choice. There are still a lot of maxi style dresses available, but this year there are shorter styles available as well.

Comfortable Party Shoes

Sometimes it can be difficult to find party shoes that are comfortable as well as look good. The good news is that for 2016 most designers have opted for lower heels. There are also more wide fit shoes available, so it has definitely become easier to find a pair of dancing shoes that will not cripple you.

Accessories

Given the fact there is so much choice you will have no problem finding what you like in the shops this year. There are also some great accessories available.

One of the problems is finding party clothing that is warm enough to wear in the winter months. If you opt for a long sleeved dress, you can end up getting too hot once you are at the party, especially in a full room. As a result, most women buy a short-sleeved dress instead. They look great and are comfortable, but the problem is that you end up turning up at the party with blue tinged fingers and chattering teeth because you have got cold during the journey.

The best solution is to treat yourself to a nice wrap or shawl. Choose a neutral colour and a classic style. That way you will be able to use it for several years running.

I would love to hear more about what you are planning to wear for the party season, so please leave a comment below.
