I have a fifteen year old daughter who has her own blog and is always fiddling with it. I knew that she would really benefit from some sort of web design instruction. I have looked at several programs that promise they are the greatest. I didn’t purchase anything because I didn’t want to waste my money on something that wouldn’t be beneficial to her.
When I was asked to review the DVD Web Design or Kids (…and Curious Grownups) I jumped at the chance.
When I first put in the DVD for my daughter and son to watch they were not impressed. They thought it was going to be another boring documentary(since we homeschool, we do watch a lot of documentaries).
But after only a few minutes my daughter was seeing the fruit of her work with her own eyes. While watching the DVD she followed along on my laptop and was able to create a very basic web page in just a few minutes.
I watched her get all excited when she would click the refresh button to see how things changed.
I learned a few things too that I didn’t know. It is one thing to be able to fiddle around with your site. But that’s not really a skill.
With Web Design for Kids(…and Curious Adults) you can learn the skill of actually creating a site from scratch by writing the code that is taught on this DVD. But even more than just teaching the code this program also teaches the why behind HTML. Once you really understand why then you can really start to decipher what HTML is all about.
I was also impressed by the cost of Web Design For Kids(…and Curious Grown-ups). Like I said I’ve looked at several programs similar to this one and the cost is really what kept me from getting one of them. But this program regularly retails for
This DVD normally sells for $40 but for a limited time you can get it for $19.99. That’s 50% off the regular price.
Another great reason to buy this for your kids is because a portion of the proceeds are given to several places. And they even show copies of the checks on their site. Here is a list of the charities that are blessed by this company.
The Smile Train
Ronald McDonald House
Miami Project to Cure Paralysis
Children’s Miracle Network
American Foundation for the Blind
This is a company that realizes that we need to give back.
The HomeschoolBuzz.com and HomeschoolChristian.com have both reviewed and endorsed this product to be used in your homeschool too.
