I learned that telescopes were invented 400 years ago – “Four hundred years ago Galileo gave birth to modern astronomy with the humblest of instruments, now preserved at a history of science museum in Florence, Italy. ” – pretty cool. (I also learned that others agree with me that carbon offsets are a scam-they may hurt more than help)

I learned that the Tasman Booby, thought to have been extinct, has actually been alive and well for many years. It was know as the Masked Booby until scientists recently discovered that instead of two similar species, these birds are actually an exact DNA match.
