    That NG still has some of the best photos around. I have been reading National Geo since I was a kid and was always in awe of the colorful, photos. Still love that they haven’t changed the yellow cover and that the pictures are still graphic and real.

I learned that telescopes were invented 400 years ago – “Four hundred years ago Galileo gave birth to modern astronomy with the humblest of instruments, now preserved at a history of science museum in Florence, Italy. ” – pretty cool.     There’s a special on Sept 30 called The human Family Tree that talks about Queens, NY and it’s diverse collection of humans. The show will highlight the complete ancestral histories of seven people from Queens.

    Wow, it was all so interesting. I don’t know if I can tell just one thing. I learned that female fruit flies don’t like to have sex for a long time and they fight to get away. And I learned how a firefly (which is really a beetle!) makes the light. I’m going to have to explore that site some more.

  176. I learned that the Tasman Booby, thought to have been extinct, has actually been alive and well for many years. It was know as the Masked Booby until scientists recently discovered that instead of two similar species, these birds are actually an exact DNA match.
