MagnaPlay™strives to educate children and facilitate their creativity with its innovative educational activities. Our main product MagnaKase™, a Magnetic Activity and Storage Case, was developed to fill an existing need in the toy industry and has a Patent Pending. MagnaPlay also manufactures a line of accessories designed for use with the MagnaKase. – MagnaPlay.com

I don’t know about other moms, but when it comes to planning a trip, no matter how long of a trip, my first priority is making sure that we have everything we need to keep our daughter happy, dry, full, hydrated and busy. When you’re traveling with toddlers, or any age children for that matter, planning ahead is key. I remember a trip I took to Philly once that was very spur of the moment and from the moment we jumped in the car without a bag full of toys or a cooler full of snacks, everything went downhill. We actually had to send my daughter home two days early with my parents because our unpreparedness made her unbearable.

Now I know, even when taking a ride to the mall, to pack as though our lives depended on it. I pack water bottles, snacks to last an eternity, crayons, coloring books, dolls, musical instruments, knick knacks, children’s CD’s and anything else that fits in the diaper bag. While this does leave us with a happy toddler, it also leaves my car looking like a lost and found at the YMCA. So it’s not bad enough that I had to trade in my T-top C5 for a busted up Jeep Cherokee, but now I have to travel like a nomad.

Long story short, MagnaPlay Magnetic Travel Toys can help eliminate your junk in the trunk problems, literally. Each MagnaPlay set comes with a plethora or activities to keep your little ones hands busy, their brains active and their mouths open ajar from concentration.

From the MagnaPlay site: The MagnaKase works great for coloring activities while on the go. Children can use the top of the case as a dry erase activity board as it has a dry erase magnetic surface. The MagnaKase comes with two magnetic strips that secure coloring pages to the activity surface, for coloring with crayons, color pencils or markers while on the go. Coloring pages and markers can be stored in the case.

I have two traveling tips. First, we always pack a cooler with bottled water and juice boxes to save money from stopping at convenience stores. Second, we have travel pouches on the back of our two front seats. Each is for a different child and contains their travel pack stuff. Examples for my four year old are: coloring books with colored pencils (don’t melt), hungry hippo travel game, Leapfrog story reader, mini magna doodle or etchsketch, etc. My 1 year old has a mini playschool music player, board books, toys that shake and make noise, etc.

My travel tip is… audiobooks! Amazon.com and iTunes both offer a great assortment of kids’ audiobooks. My son will listen with rapt attention for a loooong time. He’s still a bit young to wear headphones, but the books we’ve chosen are so well done that my husband and I don’t mind listening with him in the car. Kelsey Grammer reads the Cat in the Hat books, Arnold Lobel reads his Frog and Toad stories, Neil Patrick Harris reads Socks by Beverly Cleary…

  81. Stephanie says:

I like the wooden Magnetic Alphabet Picture Puzzle- too cute.

My traveling tip would be if traveling in another country. Get in touch with your insurance carrier to find a way to pay any medical bills so it doesn’t come out of pocket.
We won a trip to the Grand Cayman Islands and my grandson broke out in hives and we had to take him to the hospital. They didn’t accept out of country insurance and I had to pay. If I ever happen to win a trip again I will find some way to be covered.

  88. judy brittle says:

a great way to pack kids clothes is to put each day in its own ziplock bag…then when they’re dirty, just re-use the bag for those. empty as much air out of the bag as possible to save on space too.

  94. Marci says:

OK I am sitting here in a motel room with my hubby and daughters. We are in the middle of our two week vacation. My best advice bring little toys that the kids haven’t seen before. That way it’s more fun to play with them.
Also if you are going to be in any place with crowds then have some Safety Tats applied to their arm with your phone number on it. Even for the older children as you never know if something may happen that they get separated or knocked out and can’t say anything.
Most all relax and have fun and remember the vacation is for all of you.

I take my niece on vacation every year with me.. This year will be for 2 weeks.. my 2 best hints are..
When car traveling the best hint I have is try to leave during part of the normal sleeping time. I have a 8 hour drive when I go on vacation.. I usually load my niece in the car in her PJ’s at a few minutes before 4a.m. This is wonderful, she sleeps until almost 8a.m. By the time she is fully awake she is ready to stop and have some breakfast and I am ready for a break.. Load back up and we are usually at our vacation spot by noon or a little after Just in time for lunch.
    She is a great traveler.
My other hint is I honestly try to not let her get overtired, she is 7 this year I have found the closer we try to stick to her usual schedule the better off we are, she can get crabby and whiny which isn’t good for me if her mom and dad are 400 miles away.
Thanks for the chance, this MagnaPlay set would be fantastic for her in the car on vacation this year.
