My husband was an avid reader of the Hardy Boys book series. He has them all to this day stored in our storage unit, along with every other toy or book he’s ever owned! It’s really very cool because we have a lot of older toys to show our children when they are younger. I was never really in to the Hardy Boys when I was a kid. Of course, it may be because I was a girl.. but I remember the Hardy Boys being one of the favorites for the boys in my class.
Well, until I was contacted to do a review for the Hardy Boys: Treasure on the Tracks Nintendo DS game, I had no idea it was even out. If you have children who play the DS a lot, I’m sure you knew it was on shelves and may have even purchased one for your child.
The Review:
The game features both brothers from the Hardy Boys. During the game the brothers are exploring a golden train and some paintings which could hold the key to a mystery treasure! Like most games, when you first begin to actually play the game you get kind of a tutorial on how to use the tap system to play the game. Playing around at first I tapped on a simple item to see what it did and a little icon came up. Now, depending on what the item is the icon gives you the prompt to view the item a little closer (magnify) or to add the item to your inventory.
The game is very easy to pick up on and get the hang of. Throughout the game you’ll work on puzzles, which were fun. Some of the puzzles include disarming bombs, matching pieces, etc. This is probably a great game for the younger kids because it’s very simple to play and you get lots of help throughout the game. For instance, if you bring up the “menu” you’ll see what you’ve done and what you need to do next in order to move forward with the game as well as a few other options.
We did have one issue and that was the game freezing up on us.. but that was just one time. Other than that, no problems whatsoever and we all thought it would be a fun game for children and adults too.. especially if you’re like my husband and are a gamer!

There are two reasons I would love to win this for my son. My son LOVES trains and he likes ‘figuring things out’, which is why I think the DS his sister bought him last year for Christmas is so great. The DS games are so much more than point and shoot; many of them help children “figure things out”
