The Touch & Learn Super Duper Computer is pretty cool! It features a fully-interactive touchscreen, an easy to use keyboard, and a Why Writer Stylus. The computer is loaded with storybook adventures SUPER WHY characters and includes over 35 fun learning games to help teach alphabet skills, reading comprehension, word families, rhyming, letter sounds, spelling, phonics, problem-solving and fine and gross motor skills. My twins had a ball with the computer.. because of their age they’re not really sure what they are doing, but they have loved playing with it, seeing what all the buttons do and touching the screen (randomly) to see what happens.I kind of played with it myself while the twins watched and tried to help.. it’s so interactive.. it’s definitely a keeper!

One of my favorite things about the computer is that it has a volume control which is awesome for us moms! I also love the fact that the keyboard is not an actual keyboard, it’s more like a flat surface so clean up is extremely simple after those sticky hands have played with it.

Funny Phone Early Listening Game

This funny phone is one of my favorite toys so far because it’s so much fun to play. Recommended for ages 4 and up the Funny Phone offers over 300 individual and group challenges. Challenges include tongue twisters, rhyming, singing, drawing, acting and more and with so much to do.. you’re children will never get tired of playing.. and laughing!

Number Knockout Electronic Math Game

It’s a fun game to help with learning.. the game really encourages children and celebrates successes, if the player’s answer is incorrect it redirects the players and offers them another chance to get it right.

With the HEXBUG Inchworm you can travel straight forward, forward left and right, straight backward, backward left and right and can stop in place. HEXBUG Inchworm can even pirouette in place when stopped on its center pod foot. Two button cell batteries are included in each Inchworm and each remote.

Our twins are a little young for this yet, but they really got a kick out of my husband playing around with the little HEXBUG.  They would laugh every time it moved and then proceed to chase it around the table with their arms streched and their hands ready to grab on to it the instance they could manage to get a hold of it. It moves fairly slow, so this didn’t take long at all.

We also took it to a friends house where they had older kids (their youngest is 7) and he was thrilled with it at first but then became a little bored with it. A few hours later he came back to the HEXBUG and was chasing his sisters around the house and him and his brother then tried to set up ramps to see if it would jump them. (boys boys boys!). They boys were also quite interested in how the Inchworm worked and was put together, so this would also be a great way to teach your children the basics of robotics.

For only $20 this is a great toy for the younger kids and would make a great stocking stuffer! Try it out with your infant (with you manning the controls) and see what a kick they get out of it! It was cute to watch and the twins really did enjoy it but then got very upset when we wouldn’t hand over the controller or let them play with the HEXBUG itself.

I think the biggest hit games for PS2 and PS3 lately have been the SingStar series, at least in my hometown it has been. Kids can’t seem to get enough of this cool game! If you have never experienced SingStar, it’s an interactive karaoke game that allows players to challenge or duet each other. Points are awarded to players for how well they sing and players receive more points if they can match the harmony of the original singers.

Gameplay wise, SingStar Queen is very similar to the previous versions of the SingStar series with a variety of different play modes (solo, duet and battle) with the song words scrolled on the bottom of your screen and a series of bars above the words, the words are also color coded to match the up with the microphones.

During gameplay you’ll also see some performances of the actual band Queen singing the songs.. these were cool. One thing I mention about this is that they were from years ago so the videos seemed a little grainy.. this, in my opinion, is definitely not something to stop you from enjoying the game.

If you’re having a hard time choosing between the PS2 and the PS3 version.. my suggestion would be to go for the Ps3 version, because it has a few more awesome songs included in the track line-up as well as a new voice control menu feature enabling players to scroll through a song carousel, select the tracks you’d like to sing and purchase songs through the SingStore by simply speaking into the microphone. It’s a shame the PS2 version doesn’t have these cool extras, but understandable to keep the price a little lower.

For us, the SingStar Queen is a good purchase and an even better one if you have a PS3. Remember.. the holidays are coming! If your kids are in to SingStar this would be a great gift to think about for both kids, adults and especially Queen lovers.

The  Turbo Fill Blaster from Fisher Price was a great “first” water pistol for my daughter. I normally don’t condone any type of “gun” or weapon as a toy, but since this one is so brightly colored and the concept was so innovative, I couldn’t pass it up.

Being that my daughter is only 2, having to fill up an ordinary water pistol would probably be a task. I’m not sure she would have the coordination to get the water stream directly in the little fill-hole that most water pistols come with. With the Turbo Fill Blaster all you do is snap the unit into the base, which is connected to a garden hose, and the chamber fills up with water and air pressure. It takes literally about 15 seconds…pull the trigger and you’re ready to go. I thought that it was going to be difficult for her to snap the pistol on and off of the base, but it was actually quite easy for her.

I read a few of the reviews on Amazon.com and on FisherPrice.com for the Turbo Fill Blaster and a couple of people have complained about the entire unit not working after about 20 minutes. Honestly, I didn’t have this problem at all. We’ve been using the Turbo Fill Blaster for about a month now, even kept it out in the rain and sun, and it still works perfectly. Either those few people received units from a bad batch or Fisher Price corrected any problems they were having.

All in all, I think it’s a great outdoor toy for kids of any age. You can purchase a set that comes with one Blaster and one base, a set that comes with two Blasters and one base and you can also purchase individual Blasters and/or bases. The sets range from $20-$50. The Blasters are available in green, yellow and orange.

BTW…I was in Target the other day and overheard a parent saying that she’s been trying to buy one of the Fisher Price Turbo Fill Blasters for her son for over a month now and everytime she goes, they are sold out. My suggestion would be to just purchase it online at  FisherPrice.com or  Amazon.com to avoid a trip to the store.

Thanks to MomFuse I was recently introduced to Creativity for Kids- a website that has absolutely HUNDREDS of fun crafty things for kids to do. Seriously, this site has WAY more than I could ever tell you about in this blog post. They have kits to make everything from scrapbooks to lip-balm!

I was sent some “Plaster Pals” to try out with my kids. These super cute animals come with all the supplies your child needs to paint and decorate them.

I brought the “Plaster Pals” to church and used them with my Children’s Church class. The kids were able to choose either an Owl, Frog, or Butterfly.

The kids all had so much fun decorating them! It was the perfect craft to do because I didn’t need to bring anything extra and each child had their own animal, paint, paint brush, glue and extras included in the box.

All of the kids had fun doing it too. Just look at the concentration…

The supplies included made it very easy for each child to personalize their Plaster Pal however they liked. Even kids who choose to do the same animal could make them look very different!

And here are our lovely unique creations…

Aren’t those just those most fascinating Owls, Frogs, and Butterflies you have ever seen?

I love watching kids create. Each child is so unique and their individuality sure comes out in their creations!

Mom Fuse hooked a girl up! That’s right J-bug got to review an Elmer’s Dora 40 piece Art Pack. Wanna know if she likes it? Look for yourself. Aside from the fact that is was yet again another “nap-less” nap-time Miss Cranky Pants was pretty excited. The door bell rang and she high-tailed it out of her room to see who it was. I opened the package and handed it to her. “Oh my gosh mommy! I love it so much!” Yep, she’s a drama queen. She ran upstairs with it and tried to tear it open. Of course I stopped her. I did need some pictures for the post.

Here she is modeling her new find. Tags intact. The goodies in the see-through back pack were calling out to her. She resisted…

And look! You can even wear it backwards. I think she might have started a new trend. You saw it here first people.

Included: 24 Crayons, 8 Markers, 1 Paper Pad, 2 Sticker Sheets, 3 Stencils, 1 Glue Stick and an awesome see-through Dora Back Pack.

The markers have the Dora characters on them as well as the color in English and Spanish, which is cool. The crayons also have the Dora characters but the colors are only in English. The glue stick is washable…thank god. I don’t know if the markers are washable…but I’m not going to test it. You crazy?

All in all. I think this was a success and J-bug approved. Go Dora the Explorer!

Now since my daughter is only two, she doesn’t quite see the joy in lounging around in the sun all day. I don’t blame her, I remember being a kid, when doing nothing was “boring”! Oh, those were the days. Well, thanks to Step2, “I’m bored” will never have to be part of her vocabulary. Last summer we purchased the Step2 Kangaroo Climber and it kept her busy, very busy! This year, we needed a new distraction addition, so of course I went right back to Step2. The Kangaroo Climber we have is part of the Naturally Playful collection, so I knew I wanted something that coordinated with the climber and something that would encourage creativity. So when Step2 sent over their list of new outdoor toys, I immediately fell in love with the Nature Station Playhouse. It was exactly what I was looking for! It was the perfect size for my little yard and it had everything my daughter has been showing interest in. Nature.

My daughter is a huge fan of Nick Jr.’s Dora & Diego and has shown a lot of interest in “exploring”. She loves playing with insects, examining foliage and pretty much everything else that involves getting dirty. She is also into creative play and loves pretending she is on wild expeditions hunting down lions and tigers and bears…oh my! The Step2 Nature Station Playhouse allows her to take her imagination a step further. With the exotic nature-inspired design and the exploring and discovery tools, she jumped right into action. Here is a little break-down of what features the playhouse includes -

• Periscope – A real working pivoting periscope! This allowed her to keep an eye on the “mean jaguar hunters” (that would be me and my husband) while she played inside the playhouse.
• Butterfly Net- We had fun chasing imaginary Terra-dactyls and almost had a run in with a bee!
• Bug Trap Shovel – We caught some ants and also used the “scooper” to transport sand to and from the playhouse
• Binoculars- These were perfect for spotting a Humpback Whale in the middle of Queens, NY, lol.
• Shovel
• Bug Collector – We stored our “findings” in here to safely bring them back to the “lab” as she called it.
• Microscope - Her first microscope! She enjoyed checking out the slides that come with the playhouse and inspecting the “dots”  
• Lantern – This lantern really works! Once the sun went down, she carried it around the yard to make sure she didn’t miss anything. Once you’re done playing with it, it conveniently hooks back onto the playhouse patio for decor & storage!
• Window Box – A cute addition to add flowers to the side of the playhouse. It has actual drain holes so it can definitely be used for planting, now only if it came with a green thumb! For now, we are using it to store the butterfly net and binoculars.
• Built-in Sink with swivel faucet- All kids love playing with water, as do mosquitoes! Thankfully there is a drain at the bottom so there is no sitting water.

Aside from all the little features that encourage BIG imaginations, there are also a bunch of things that the parents will like too. Such as the durability. As with all the toys from Step2, the Nature Station Playhouse is constructed from a rough-and-tough poly which will last for years and stand up to toddlers and the harsh weather. Like I said before, we purchased our Step2 Kangaroo Climber last summer and left it outdoors all winter, and it still looks brand new. Unlike other outdoor toys we’ve had, there is no fading from the sun or warping from the snow and rain, and I’m sure we can expect that from the Nature Station Playhouse as well.

We also appreciate the “airy-open” design of this particular playhouse, especially since we have an experimental toddler. If she is going to be playing with insects, I’d rather have full view of the action, just in case she decides they look “good enough to eat” or something silly like that. The open doorway and large open patio area of this playhouse give it a real outdoorsy feel, which is perfect when discovering nature. The low fence on the patio creates a fun lookout station for kids, and adds to the room of the interior. Most playhouses I’ve seen could comfortably fit 2-3 toddlers, but with the Nature Station Playhouse, I think four children could easily play without bumping heads, literally and figuratively.

The only downside for me was the assembly. I tried to put the playhouse together before my husband got home from work, and I gave up mid-roof. While all you really need is a phillips screwdriver and some patience, I just didn’t have the patience that morning. Once he got home, it took him about 45 mnutes total to put it together using an electric screwdriver. He made it look easy, so if you’re handy, it shouldn’t be that hard. One good thing about all the screwing…it sure is sterdy! The gardeners moved the playhouse the next day to mow the lawn and it stayed put. That’s always a good sign, lol.

Step2.com recommends the playhouse for ages 3 and up, which is perfect since there are some smaller parts to the accessories (like the batteries for the lantern), but under supervision, my 2-year old has been having a blast.

I HIGHLY recommend the Nature Station Playhouse by Step2 for little explorers all over the world!
