5 Summer Trends that Carry Into Fall

Fashion is constantly changing and one day something is and the next day it’s old news. But thankfully there are always a few items that tend to transition into the next season. This summer was proven to be full of the bright, the bold and the beautiful. Here are 5 trends that you can carry into the fall:

Bold colors: This past summer featured plenty of bold and bright colors and thankfully this trend will put us right into the fall. Instead of your more summery bold colors like coral and mint, try colors like royal and cobalt blues, plums, mustards and of course deeper reds.

Washed skinny jeans: Skinny jeans sailed through the summer months and are being carried right through fall. Keep sporting your skinny jeans and pair it with a cute booty and bold top. The more texture and print your skinnys have the better.

Braids: Hair, hair, hair! Maybe we have The Hunger Games and Katniss to thank for this but, braids are a wonderful look this fall. Your summer braids were a splash at the pool now take it to the cooler months by a more refined braid bun.

Fringe: Fringe bathing suits were hot this summer but guess what? They are making an appearance in accessories, boots and jackets this fall. The key with fringe is to not overdue it. Keep on item on your body (or accessories) the fringe focal point.

Crossbody and clutches: Those bold colored clutches and crossbody purses can be used throughout fall. The brighter the color or pattern the better! Or stick to a stable and try to find a more neutral trendy shade of gray to compliment your wardrobe this fall.

So before you pack away and hope that your skinny jeans will be cool next summer, comb your closet for this year’s constants. Remember bold is beautiful and keep it fun; focus on the deeper and darker colors. Don’t be afraid to try a new trend that frightens you, you never know when it could be your ‘it’ look!

5 Spring Fashions To Splurge On For 2012

Spring is in full force which means it’s time to be sure you have your Spring fashion necessities! I believe it’s necessary for us moms to splurge on ourselves at least once a year, we deserve it!

1. A New Little Black Dress (LBD) – A little black dress is always in fashion and can used styled up for a special night out or styled down for a girls night.

2. A New Purse – As moms our purse is like a little mini-convenience store, at least mine is anyway. I always have one with me and I tend to store snacks, wipes, small toys, etc for the twins when we are out and about. I prefer fashionable totes (like Radleys!) and always get a new one at least once a year, but splurge on whatever style you like!

3. Manicures and Pedicures – A manicure and pedicure can finish off any outfit, they look great no matter what you wear. Gel manicures actually last longer , are a little more expensive but are definitely worth it in my opinion!

4. New Shoes – New shoes are a must for Spring fashion! I prefer wedges because they give me a little boost in height but still have more support than high heels.

5.  A New Do – I always find myself wanting a new do come Spring.. it must be the warmer weather! Check out our 4 Hair Styles for Spring & How To Achieve Them (for medium/long hair lengths)  for some great ideas.

I usually splurge on all of the above! What do you find yourself splurging on? Do you have any favorite Spring Fashions

5 Great TV Shows to Help Moms Keep Up with the Latest Fashions

No one dreams of being the mom with the frazzled hair and the 80s outfit gone wrong. There is something to be said for a mother, no matter how busy, finding the time to take care of herself. Don’t get me wrong. I am not trivializing the time and energy it takes to raise a pack of hyenas, formally known as children. I am a mother myself, and I put almost everything I had into raising my kids. I still took the time, the little I had left, to look my best. I guarantee you—it is not as hard as it looks.

The best result of being more fashion forward and applying it to your wardrobe—how you feel about yourself. These feelings may actually transfer to your approach to motherhood. You are no longer a martyr tending to your child’s every need, but a positive, confident woman who isn’t solely defined by her motherhood.

There are easy ways for a mom to spice her wardrobe once she acquaints herself with the latest trends and fashions. Here are five of my favorite shows, which help me keep in touch with the latest fashions. You can take high end fashion principles and apply them to cheaper, more affordable styles. Fashion is an art form, and you, a beautiful mother (of two, three, four, or even more), need to start expressing yourself!

The Rachel Zoe Project

DVR this show as soon as possible, it is one of my absolute favorites! Rachel Zoe, a prominent celebrity stylist in Los Angeles, shares her experiences while dressing Hollywood’s finest. She often gives viewers a peek of her own wardrobe and shares her latest shopping endeavors. The best part, she also provides great advice for those looking for vintage items, at a much cheaper price. Also, you’ll thoroughly enjoy the show, as you watch Rachel Zoe and her assistants complain about their terribly glamorous lives!

What Not to Wear

This show may be directly related to moms who have more than one monster in their respective closets (the monster being a terribly ugly, out of style dress or pair of jeans). The funny, quirky stylists show no sympathy towards their victims. They are honest and practical. They help their clients find outfits fitting their lifestyle and character, and often also take into account: you can be fashionable and comfortable—comfortable within reason, that is. Being a mom and being stylish don’t have to be mutually exclusive qualities!

Project Runway

This Bravo reality show will remind you: fashion is truly an art. Watch Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, and other fashion gurus judge and critique some of the best American up and coming designers. This show can be great for moms, as it shows that style is personal and a form of self-expression. You can stay in touch with trends and tweak them to your own liking.

The Real Housewives (Beverly Hills or New York)

Watch some of America’s richest moms and housewives strut their stuff in great metropolitan cities like Los Angeles or New York. Although most of us can’t afford anything they are wearing, we can still appreciate the fashion and latest styles most of these housewives dawn on a daily basis. Take one of the latest Versace suits Lisa Vandercamp wears to lunch, and find the best Macy’s or TJ Max equivalent. You don’t have to pay designer prices to look and feel fabulous!

The Fashion Show

We should all love Isaac Mizrahi for his attempt to make beautiful, sophisticated clothes affordable for the masses. His line, which is available at Target in addition to high end boutiques, has items appealing for a teen, a middle-aged mom, and even a grandmother! There really is something for everyone. His show The Fashion Show is similar to Project Runway, and it shows that designers and consumers (moms) can both make time for fashion, even in difficult circumstances.

Try the new Rambler’s Way Wool

Ramblers Way was started with a desire to re-imagine wool as a next-to-skin, superfine fabric, to warm and comfort people of all ages and walks of life. Just as importantly, they sought to create a company and products that exemplify the values and beliefs which they hold dear. Rambers Way creates superfine worsted wool garments, while maintaining high standards of ecological responsibility, community involvement, and customer satisfaction.

Now when I think of wool I think itchy and uncomfortable but when I was checking out RamblersWay.com I immediately went to the Women’s section to see what kind of products they had and I have to say their products look super comfortable. Right off the bat I knew I wanted the wool hoodie, just look at this hoodie, doesn’t look inviting and perfect for those chilly fall night? I think so, and although it’s a little pricey, I’m sure it’s well worth it and I’ve even put it on my Christmas list this year!

I also found a few items for my husband that I’m sure he’ll love as well, I had ran out of Christmas ideas for him but after looking over their mens section I have a few more ideas; The long sleeve henley and the short sleeve cross neck tshirt.
