We have our fair share of rainy days to contend with and if they coincide with kid’s holidays or the weekends, boredom can soon take hold.
A trip to the cinema or some other indoor activity can get expensive so it might be time to turn to your printer and get it to create some boredom busters which will keep the kid’s entertained for hours.
Make sure you are stocked up on your printer supplies using an online supplier such as StinkyInk, so you are ready for action and then take a look at some of these craft project ideas.
Make a board game
There are some excellent websites to check out like Education.com for example, which offers you a free selection of board games you can print out and put together.
A popular download is their Monster Mix-Ups board game which provides the children with what they need to create their own monster using paper and glue and you also print out everything else you need, including the game board and even the dice.
There are not many kids who don’t enjoy sitting down with a set of crayons and setting to work on a coloring book.
Sitting down and coloring in is often therapeutic and entertaining in equal measure and there are lots of different sites online where you can download all sorts of pages for free, so you can have fun choosing as well as keeping everyone busy while it is raining or they are complaining of being bored.
Make some printable puppets
Another popular activity is to use your printer to help create some puppets that the kids can create for themselves.
Printable finger puppets are a great activity for the younger ones as it entertains them in designing and creating their characters and then allows them to use their imagination to put on a puppet show or just play with the characters once they have made them.
Similar comments apply to the idea of making an animal mask, as kids just love to play and pretend.
There is a lot of fun to be had just coloring in the masks that you can download from a number of different sites when you do a search for printable animal masks and all you need other than the printer, paper and crayons, is a piece of elastic to attach the mask.
Make a T-Shirt
Although there is a cost associated with this craft project and involves a bit more planning than some other ideas, it is worth doing as it is an activity that many kids really enjoy.
You can use a T-shirt that you already have or decide to buy a pack to work with. You will also need transfer paper that will be needed to print out your chosen image which is then ironed onto the T-shirt.
Kids like to be able to create their own pictures and they can either create something online to print out or you can scan a drawing they have done and transfer it to the T-shirt after you have printed it out.
When you start to think about it, there are plenty of ways in which you can use your printer to banish boredom.
