Trying new things is always a challenge, especially for kids. So when I told my seven year old step-daughter that I was going to be switching her booster seat to a larger version, I expected some push back. Luckily, I did not get any, but I let her know that it was new and looks more comfortable. She was excited, so my husband started the assembly process.I expected it to be a ‘process’ since the Parkway SG has so many safety features, but it was very simple. There are two pieces, the backrest and the base, which link together very easily. My step-daughter is tall, so we had to adjust the backrest a bit. That too was easily accomplished.
We loaded the kids into the car and helped my step-daughter get situated. The seat belt slides easily through the slide guard clip. I was impressed how it holds the seat belt in the correct position across her lap. It also appears to prevent the child from sliding down in the car seat, which can cause harm in an accident.
After the first few uses, our seven year old is now able to safely position herself in the seat (we double check to make sure she is seated properly). The additional safety features do not make it more difficult to use.
The car seat has True Side Impact Protection®, which makes the booster seat safer for children. This same feature is one of the reasons my step-daughter likes it better then her old seat. The padding from the side impact protections makes the car seat more comfortable as well. The all over padding on this car seat is immediately noticeable from both a safety and comfort perspective.
To demonstrate how much we all like the new car seat, my husband bought our two year old a new Britax car seat as well because it offers better safety features. If you are even considering purchasing a new booster seat, please consider the Britax Parkway SG booster seat. The safety features shine through on this product.
