Oreck Halo Kills Germs and Dust Mites

My husband and our twins seem to have trouble with allergies. I have never had any problems with allergies and asthma until the last few years. So far this summer isn’t looking so good either.

Did you know that carpet can contain as many as 100,000 dust mites per square yard? Scary huh? I didn’t know this until we spoke with an allergist, who suggested that we rip our carpets and convert to all hard wood floors. We have a few rooms that are hardwood floors but I like our carpet and I know the twins enjoy playing and crawling on the warm carpeted floors.

With the recent allergy flare ups we’ve had around the house, I jumped at the chance to try out the Oreck Halo. The Halo is the world’s only upright vacuum that uses ultraviolet light to clean and kill germs, bacteria, viruses, allergens and mold. Ahh.. isn’t it nice to vacuum and to be able to kill those nasty germs and allergens at the same time?

The Oreck Halo weighs about 17 lbs and features a UV-C light which has been proven to kill more than 99.9% of common germs and more than 90% of dust mite eggs. If that’s not enough to make this vacuum a must have, the UV-C light also neutralizes germs, allergens and dust mites without any chemicals or pesticides so it’s safe for any home.

The handle is designed to be very comfortable. I love the fact that you can turn the “brushroll” off with just a flick of a button allowing it to seamlessly transition between our carpets and hardwood floors. This is definitely a great vacuum. It’s easy to use and very beneficial to have.

The patented Sani-Seal tab prevents dirt, germs and allergens from escaping when the bag is replaced. The Oreck Halo comes with a 3 year warranty that includes 3 free annual tune-ups and a 5 year warranty on the UV-C bulb.

Safety Features -  The Oreck Halo has built-in safety features to ensure that proper use will not cause any harm to people or pets:

• A trigger on the handle must be depressed for the UV-C light to activate. If you let go of the trigger, the vacuum will still function but the UV-C light will not activate.
• The hatch on the patented light chamber must be tightly closed. If anything should loosen, the UV-C light automatically turns off.
• All four wheels must remain flat on the ground. If one of the wheels loses contact with the ground, the UV-C light automatically turns off.

The Oreck Halo retails for $599.95 and in my opinion is well worth the price.
