Awesome Beef Sandwich with Au Jus Sauce
A crock pot roast that’s made into delicious sandwiches with sauteed mushrooms and onions and for extra flavor I toast the buns and add a few slices of swiss cheese. This is a family favorite at our house. My husband eats at least two sandwiches and it’s even better the next day.

Ingredients:
- 3-4 pounds beef chuck roast
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 6 cups water
- 1 pkg of fresh sliced mushrooms
- 1 white onion (sliced)
Place roast in slow cooker then add the garlic powder, rosemary, and bay leaves. Pour the soy sauce over meat and seasonings, then add the water. Slow cook for about 6 – 6 1/2 hours on low.
When the meat is done, saute the mushrooms and onions together with a little bit of butter.
Serve meat and sauteed mushrooms and onions on toasted hoagie buns and add a few slices of swiss cheese to make this a yummy sandwich. We also like to use the liquid from the meat for au jus dipping sauce.
This recipe has been in our family for I don’t know how long and it’s always been a hit with everyone, even the kids, so I wanted to share it with my Mom Fuse family!

That sounds like something my hubby and son would love! Thanks for the recipe!
Yum, Yum, Yum!! I will be making this, this week! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to cook the chuck roast in our freezer, and nothing has been sounding good… Until this! Thanks so much for sharing!
oh that looks sooo good! yum! thanks for sharing this recipe!!!
This sounds really good. Definitely a keeper!
looks yummy minus those onions
Thank you ladies! It’s really good, everyone loves it around here. If you try it out be sure to let me know how it goes over with you!
Tricia@Night Owl Mama – I hear ya! Hubby likes the onions, but I don’t, so when I make my sandwhich I leave them out.
We make the same thing, but just throw in one beer and one package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Leave it all day and yum-O
This sounds absolutely wonderful. It’s also a plus because just thinking about using the oven this time of year makes me sweat. Thank you for the recipe.
@ Jayne
Ugh.. I know. I hate turning the oven on during those hot days. This week it’s in the 90’s with a heat index of over 100.. just too hot to use the oven.
@Sweet Serendipity
That sounds good! Will have to try that one night!
Man! I just came from the supermarket and was trying so hard to remember everything in this recipe. I failed, lol. I bought the wrong meat, forgot the mushrooms and the rosemary. I’ll have to try again tomorrow, looks great!
I’ve made this twice now, and we’re having it for dinner again tonight… We LOVE it! We also add sliced bell peppers to it though, and throw those and the onions in for the last 15-20 minutes in the crock pot to soften, rather than saute them. (I don’t do the mushrooms, since I’m not a fan). =)
Thanks again for sharing this! SOOOOO good!
