Have you noticed that everywhere you look it seems like someone is tapping away on their iPod Touch or iPhones. Well, did you know that these little electronic smartys aren’t just for making calls and/or listening to music anymore? These days there is so much more you can do with then and we’ve put together a list of some cool Apps you can use for your iPod Touch or iPhone that will benefit and entertain everyone in the family.
(If you’re a mommy with an iPod Touch or iPhone we’d love to hear what your favorite App is! Leave us a comment and let us know!)
For Parents:
Baby Monitor App – Monitor your sleeping baby with this iPhone App. Simply place the iPhone near your sleeping baby, if it detects noise, it places a phone call to the number of your choice, you can then listen in for activity from your baby (monitor has unlimited range). Great for when you are on the go or traveling, no need to pack your regular baby monitor.
Baby Tracker: Nursing App - Keeps track of your nursing sessions with just a few clicks, allowing you to relax and focus on feeding your baby. With just a few clicks your nursing session is recorded: length of time and the side you nursed on (or both), always noting which side you nursed on last.
Baby Tracker: Diapers App – For sleep-deprived new parents, it’s hard remembering when you did what — but not with Baby Tracker: Diapers! With the tap of a button, Baby Tracker: Diapers records everything you need to keep track of concerning this “stinky” part of child rearing! Forget about journaling, lists and charts…Baby Tracker: Diapers does the remembering for you!
For Kids:
Jumbo Book – The first interactive picture book series for the iPhone made by parents, designed for kids to develop cognitive and motor skills, features a series of stories about a group of loveable and curious animal friends who love exploring the world around them and learning valuable life lessons along the way. Available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Wheels on the Bus - a colorful, interactive, musical book that will delight young children — and their parents. (Available in the Education section).
Zen Garden – An App that lets your little one draw in the sand on that beautiful beach found in your iPhone. Wouldn’t it be nice to really be there, on that beach, drawing in real sand?

Hi moms – I am a mom of 2 under 2 (6 and 22 months) and a proud owner of a iPhone.
I also just launched an iPhone app for moms called Baby Brain. It was featured in Forbes and is getting great reviews.
The app allows you to not only log (but also analyze, share via email, view stats) diapers, feedings and sleep with just a tap. Check it out:

I have 2 girls (4 and 6) and they are just IN LOVE with the “Kid Songs Kwiz Game”. It’s like a “name that tune” for little ones, and it keeps them busy in traffic (which is the biggest selling point of all). Just thought I would share. I’ll include a link below.

Another iPhone/iPod touch app for parents is “Grounded” by RagingFjord.
For the parent with a lot going on their lives (or with a large brood), sometimes it’s hard to keep track of everything we promise to the kids. That goes for keeping track of how long they’re grounded, too!
See http://www.ragingfjord.com/grounded for more info about this $0.99 app.
I wrote a simple app for my sister-in-law to help her with nursing her new baby. It
tracks nursing times and I think it is unique among existing apps because it sends a reminder X minutes since your last feeding to help keep the baby on a schedule.

Hi everyone,
We’ve just launched a food label scanning app that allows you to scan bar-codes and view the allergen, additive, ingredient and nutrient properties of the label. You can also compare labels side by side.
Not just relevant for mom’s and parents but anyone who wants to know what’s in the food they eat.
Would love to know what you think.
