Hummm this idea that our children benefit from an “early start” in academics like reading is nutso in my mind. All we do is chase the natural interest to learn from our little ones by making them do it early. CBC has done a bit of stuff around “the Hurried Child” if you go to their archives you can hear the interviews. Boys especially loose out being asked to read before they are ready. How many nine year old say they love school? It all boils down to not a good idea to fill those empty little heads while their bones are still soft!
