2009 Bumbleride Indie Stroller Review

April 11, 2009

Have you noticed how competitive the stroller market is beginning to get? In my previous stroller reviews, you may have noticed that I’m not a big fan of the current one we are using.. it’s no secret really, everyone knows (mostly my husband) how unhappy I am with it. So I love trying out these new strollers and comparing them as we use them.

This time, I had the opportunity to try out the new 2009 Bumbleride Indie Stroller. After opening the box, right off 1e4c_1the bat I was impressed. The different parts are all labeled as to what they are and they seem very sturdy. I quickly looked over the instruction booklet to see if I should get my husband to put it together (if you follow along with my reviews you may notice I’m not a very handy person) but it looked easy enough so I tried it on my own. I had no problems putting the stroller together. Actually it was quick, easy and painless.. I think it took me about 5 minutes to put together?

The Bumbleride Indie stroller is lighter than most all-terrain strollers, weighing in at 19 lbs., making it portable and easy to use. It’s also extremely maneuverable because of the air-filled swivel wheels and rides smoothly across all kinds of terrain, even our alley that is full of potholes and rocks. The Indie also comes with a front-wheel lock so you can use it as a jogging stroller. The Indie will also fold down to a compact size very easily making it even easier to store.

My favorite feature is that the Indie can switch from an infant stroller to a toddler stroller in no time. They’ve even designed a pretty clever global infant car seat attachment that will support infant seat models like Graco, Chicco, Peg Perego and Maxi. And the best part of this is that you don’t have to purchase it separately or pay for any additional accessories, it’s included!

Other cool features include:

  • Comes complete with a full accessory package: rain cover, cupholder, air pump, and car seat adapter
  • Seat that reclines flat
  • Large storage basket
  • Adjustable bumper
  • Adjustable handle bar
  • Aluminum spoke wheels for reduced weight
  • Large, adjustable sun canopy with a rear pocket to hold parenting essentials

For your little passenger, the Bumbleride Indie rides like luxury. It’s outfitted with tons of soft padding in the seat, roomy seating, an infant headrest, shoulder pads, a snug 5 point harness, and 12″ air filled tires to make the ride a smooth one.

Overall I think the Bumbleride Indie is a great stroller for parents who want a full-featured stroller since it can handle light jogging, those rough rocky roads, and the fact that it works with an infant seat. The indie is available in 5 different colors and retails for $459.99

Okay, so I know it shouldn’t matter, but that’s the cutest all terrain stroller I’ve ever seen :) On a practical note (because I have to warn you when I’m being practical) it looks like the handles might even be adjustable so us tall folks don’t have to stoop?

  2. Yes! The handle bar is adjustable! We loved that they are adjustable because my husband is a bit taller than I am so when he’s pushing he can adjust it to his needs and I can do the same for myself.
