Recently one of our “Mommy Reviewers”, Summer from Le Musings of Moi, and myself had the chance to try the new Zero Water Pitcher/Filter.
Below you can read the full review by Summer, but I just had to share the results from my water tests as well. When I tested regular tap water, I got a reading of 39, the water that is supposedly filtered in my fridge got a 29 and the last cup of water which was poured from the Zero Water Pitcher got 0’s all across the screen! I know you may be wondering what in the world these numbers mean, so here is a little info to help you out.
Each Zero Water Pitcher comes with a removable TDS meter that measures your water for Total Dissolved Solids. The number you get from the meter represents the amount of dissolved substances in parts per million in the water you drink. Majority of the time when you lay out the cash for a water filter pitcher, you are assuming that it’s doing it’s job. With the Zero Water Pitcher, not only are they so confident that their product does exactly what it’s supposed to, but they even throw in the free meter which definitely adds to the value.
Zero Water is the only filtered water from a pitcher that meets the FDA’s definition for purifed bottled water. And on top of being safe for your family, the Zero Water pitcher and all of it’s components are recyclable, making it a great choice for the environment as well. One more thing I want to add before we get to Summer’s review. The push-button dispenser at the bottom of the pitcher (pictured below) was one of my favorite features, it made it easy for my daughter to help herself in the fridge, not only saving me time but saving me the mess. I actually made a video review for this product which showed not only how easy it was to test the water, but how easy it was for a two-year old to pour a glass of water, but after hearing how horrible my New Yawk accent sounds on video…I decided against it, lol.
Holy Water!
Many of you know, I’m a lover and a giver. Especially when it comes to Formula. And in making Chloe her drinkie drink, I try to mix the potent powder with only the best water I can find. I’ve recently been using the PUR Water filter, and have been blissfully happy with it.
Until Mom Fuse brought Zero water into my life.
Though it’s a bit more ($39.99 for the pitcher and one filter) than the cost of the Brita or the Pur (Each around $25), for me, for my Chloe, it’s definitely worth it.
Why am I so hooked?
Well first of all, it tastes so clean and so crisp and so…healthy. I think it’s as close to Holy Water that you can find. But, what really sold me was the TDS Meter (total dissolved solids) that came along with the purifier. This meter shows the amount of dissolved substances in parts per million in the water we drink.
Zero is completely pure. 500 is the maximum that FDA approves.
My husband and I set out to experiment. Tap water? 655! Ew!
Our Pur Water? 349…
Our Zero water? Um, zero. Ya, awesome.
Really, that was all I needed.
Now being the researcher I am, I have been online reading other reviews as well. Some absolutely love it, some are put off by the price, and then there are some that complain about a funky mildew odor after some extended time of use.
So far, I haven’t had any issues. Although in this economy, I know cost can definitely be an issue. And if you don’t mind solids in your water, then pay less and drink away.

My tap water reads 312 on the TDS meter! It’s assuring to see 000 for water filtered by zero water filter. Boy, I’m wondering what are those 300+ substances in my water.
The Zerowater filter removes total dissolved solids. This includes the essential minerals our bodies need. Zerowater does not remove impurities that are not solids. Zerowater is something you should avoid like a plague.
What an idiotic review. Are you being paid by the makers of this product?
Both the Pur and Brita filters put minerals back INTO the water they filter. Take a look at their product packaging. During the 3rd stage they run the cleaned water over a layer of minerals.
Why? Because distilled water with no dissolved solids is terrible for the human body. Distilled water causes vital nutrients already in your body to dissolve into the distilled water, leeching calcium and other minerals from your body.
Go take a science class before you ever write another review. Terrible. F-
Yeah…the water is GREAT!!! BUT the Pitcher is crappy!
We have enjoyed the water so much…but after ONLY 3 weeks of using the Pitcher…the handle inlaid portion keeps like trying to snap out…and the LID…why can’t they make it more secure??? Basically it just “rests” on top. The design needs IMPROVEMENT. Also…is that “spout” at the very bottom REALLY necessary?????

Distilled waters causes dehydration. You HAVE to have minerals.
Does it filter out flouride and cholorine etc? Forgive my ignorance.
Brian is correct. If you dont know what TDS’s are, do some research. Total disolved solids are basically minerals. Zero water removes minerals. It does not remove bacteria, contaminants, lead, arsenic, thm’s, chlorine, fluoride, or a multitude of other contaminants that may be in your drinking water. Zero water has a great marketing campaign and in my opinion they are misleading the public into believing this is a good product. Take my word for it, its Not!
You DON’T need nutrients from your water, what your body needs is pure water without fluoride, chlorine, iron, lead, etc. to hydrate your body, You get all of the nutrients your body needs if you eat balanced meals and take vitamins, if you are only drinking water and not eating anything, you might want to consider some changes to your diet. Filtering your water with something as simple as a brita filter or zerowater, or something more expensive as a reverse osmosis setup is very healthy, given that you change the filters and maintain the filter as needed…. granted you are taking out some of the good with the bad with any type of filter, but considering the unknowns lingering in your tap water, and again getting everything your body needs from your sensible diet, filtering your tap water, and not wasting hundreds if not thousands of $$$ a year buying bottled water makes alot of sense.
I never comment on products but this one warrants a comment. A few weeks ago when I got my zero water pitcher I was in heaven! I drink tons of water and I so impressed! The taste was amazing! Two weeks later it taste and smells like someone put a little turpentine in my water! At least when my “other” filter in my other pitcher was getting old it didn’t taste like turpentine!
With the cost of the filters and horrible taste it has after just two weeks I can’t recommend this product at all! The only good I can see that came out of this over priced purchase was now i have the meter that came with it, and I will use it to monitor my other filter pitcher, I know it won’t be zero but it won’t taste like turpentine either.
