Kelty Speedster Review & Giveaway

I honestly had no idea that Kelty had a line for kids that includes strollers, child carriers and accessories. In fact, I hadn’t even heard about the Kelty brand until I was fortunate enough to do a review on the Kelty Eclipse Double Wide Sleeping Bag and read one of our mommy reviewers review on the Kelty Transit Child Carrier.

From my experience Kelty has products that are nothing but the best quality and are very functional. So, after testing out the sleeping bag and reading how great the child carrier was, I was excited to try out the Kelty Speedster Jogging Stroller (Retails for $299.95). I was a runner before I got pregnant and I really can’t wait until this winter weather passes so I can start jogging again. This month here in Illinois we’ve had some very strange weather. Last week we got a few inches of snow and this week it’s in the 50’s and beautiful outside, so I did actually have a chance to try out the stroller as my little girl and I went for a short jog while my husband and her little brother stayed home and took a nap together (seems to be their favorite thing to do!).

My experience with the stroller was great.  Putting the stroller together was extremely easy (you know how I hate those complicated products that involve a lot of construction!) and it was very durable. The handles are adjustable which is great because my husband is a bit taller than I am so he can adjust them higher if he needs to. While we were jogging I noticed it was very easy to maneuver around the curbs and corners. The route I normally take has an alley so I wasn’t sure how well the stroller would handle the rock and gravel surface so when we got to it I started walking just in case. It was a little bumpy of course but the stroller handled it very well and the tires held up great (unlike our current stroller). There is a little peep hole on the top of the stroller so you can check in on your little one, when I looked at K. she was enjoying the ride and would laugh every time we hit a bump. She seemed to like the feel of the fabric too because she kept running her hand back and forth over it.

With twins, I’m all about how much storage a product has and how easily it can be put away. There is storage space under the seat, a smaller storage space on the back of the seat and a holder for your drink . The Speedster also folds up easily for quick storage when it’s not in use which is great because I can just stick it under a bed or put in the closest this winter.

All in all this is a really great stroller. I wish I would have checked more into strollers before we purchased our current stroller (Graco brand). After just a few months the stroller we have is showing it’s wear and tear. The wheels are what I complain about most. Had I known about the Kelty Speedster, I definitely would have purchased it instead.

So far I have loved everything Kelty makes for children. I’ve yet to try out a stroller though and would love to! We have a baby due next month so this would be perfect! My favorite item from Kelty is the carriers.
