you are absolutely, incredibly correct! not only am i a business owner myself and deal with what can frequently end up as very emotional choices that families must make, a large part of my business is recommending services to my clients. many companies don't seem to understand that when they provide me with poor customer service, they are not only losing my business, they are losing out on thousands of dollars in recommendations. i only ever make recommendations based on my experiences or the experiences of those whom i trust.

in today's economy, i don't think that companies can afford poor customer service and i don't hesitate to speak with a manager or owner when their employees are particularly off course. i would want someone to do the same for me.

I used to be in customer service in the early days of my life and let me tell you it was the worst job that I ever could have imagined. I am a nice, quiet person who wanted to please all my customers BTW (a major credit card company) We were supposed to fill a certain quota of calls with a certain amount of time and I would always say how can you expect us to take care of our clients if this is what you request? I got out of that job pretty fast. I find myself being harsh on the customer service reps now because I say stand up to your management and tell them to go fly. If you have good managers, supervisors and the company you work for really enforces team work then yes you certainly will get better customer service. Now that I am a small business owner I make that a first priority when it comes to hiring someone. You either have it or you don't and I say hit the road now because down the road it's going to be worse.
