Ok another year has come and gone, did you set out to attain all your business goals from last year? Did you see an improvement in your profit margin last year? Did you advertise enough to draw in a lot of new customers? These are all important questions you should be asking yourself as we start a new year in our business lives. It is never to late to make a business plan for your new year of business. Inside this article we will be discussing how planning now and setting goals can help you have the best year yet!

1-Organizing:

I cannot stress enough, organizing your supplies, records, and books and is only going to help you in the long run. Start this year with a organized desk, supplies, and website. Maybe this year invest in a business program for your computer to help keep everything organized, and to keep your budget on track.

2. Advertising Supplies:

It is essential key to your business is to have a full stock of advertising supplies on hand when you need them. Such as business cards, address labels, printed coupons, brochures, flyers and more. That way when orders start flooding in your supply of advertising material is stocked up and ready to go out to your customers. Take your downtime such as the weekend to stock yourself up with all the supplies you will need over the next few weeks. A quick free advertising tips is to include a business card in with all the bills you mail out. If you think about someone on the end is opening your bills to process them, why not try to get a potential customer in the meantime.

3. Using a Home Organizer or Calender:
Using a home organizer of calendar on a regular basis can really help to your business life organized. Start by marking off your vacation times, times when you should start working on next seasons items, and times when you start promoting your seasonal items.

4. Keep Track of Your Expenses:

Rather than being caught off guard one month, take the time now to write down all of your expenses on your calendar so you know from month to month what upcoming bills you may have. From Advertising expense to supply expenses and more!

5. Expanding your business advertising:
You had a great year last year, but now is the time to plan on where you can advertise your business further. This will help your business to gain new customers. Too often people email me to say “My business has slowed down since last year, what should I do?” The first question I always ask is have your slowed down on your advertising? Are you still making sure you business is seen? Too often the answer is once the traffic starts flowing, people will start cutting back on their advertising expenses. With new sites popping up each day, it is essential that you keep on top of your advertising for your business. Advertising is the key to keep your site ranked in search engines, to get your site seen and noticed and to draw quality traffic in. Look at your calendar with your expenses and plan time when you add more advertising throughout the year, this will keep your business fresh and current with your audience.

6. Network with your online friends:
Make this the year you will meet other work at home moms to unite in helping to promote each other’s sites. Just because your business may offer something similar to your friends site does not mean you cannot network with your friends and help advertise each other’s sites. This can be as simple as exchanging text links or banner links or by adding a partners page to your site. This is a free way to advertise your site and most importantly gain some some wonderful networking friends.

7. Join a message board:

Make this a year you will expand your business and also meet some great friends in the process. Join a message board related to your site, where you can advertise your business, network and meet some great friends. Community message boards are essential for offering advice, swapping ideas with other, receiving or giving tips and ideas and of course advertising with.

In summary just remember when your business is slow, ask yourself am I doing all that I can to promote my business and gain new valuable customers?

I know this year I want to increase my income and learn more about time management. With having 4 kids, I am very distracted easily.

Stephanie I know exactly where you are coming from! With this tough economy anyway we can decrease our spending but increase our sales is a wonderful thing! Thank you for the comment! Angie
