Here’s what Mom Fuse “Mommy Reviewer”, Gina from The Clan McLeod, had to say about her GLEE Gum Candy Kit experience….

glee

We have had an absolute blast with the products I am about to tell you about! I think they’ve been one of the top products we’ve reviewed yet!

First a little background information. Way back in 1869 when modern gum was introduced, it was all made from an all natural base source called Chicle. Chicle is harvested in the rainforests of Central America and the men and women who tap the trees for this precious sap are called Chicleros. Chicle is harvested from Sapodilla trees and the trees are tapped in a way that brings them no harm and they can be tapped several times before they “retire”. Now, most gum companies, in the US especially, use a synthetic base for their gums. With the exception of one, Glee Gum! They still bring us an all natural gum made from chicle, which is not only healthier for us, but also provides Chicleros with a job, and the rainforests healthy!
GO GLEE GUM!!

In addition to chewing gum, Glee Gum also sells “Make Your Own” kits for gum, chocolate, and gummies. They use natural ingredients and are so much fun to make. They were also easy enough that the girls, who are 8 and 10, could do most of it on their own. I like to stand back and watch them create!
Here are some of our photos. There would be more, but my camera batteries were dying on me fast!

Watch the Slideshow!

I discovered that Glee Gum also offers educational guides to accompany each kit. I took full advantage of those! We did the vocabulary and studied the lesson that went with each one. These are free on the site and offer the history of each candy. The guides offer links to other resources that teach more about the rainforest, the ocean and seaweed farms, and cocoa beans. My girls listened quite intently to each one and have learned a lot about each candy they created. One of our favorite parts was watching the slideshow that featured each step of the Glee Gum making process titled, “From Tree to Glee.” I believe that the stories of each kit really helped my girls understand that their food doesn’t just come from the store. It also helped them to understand the importance of conservation and why we should buy more natural foods and materials to help out the earth.

I strongly commend Glee Gum for sticking with the old fashioned way of creating chewing gum. I also commend them for creating kits that are not only fun and tasty, but educational. As a homeschool mom, I’m always looking for fun ways to teach and this was definitely one of the best! These are perfect for homeschoolers, traditional classrooms, homeschool groups, birthday parties, and everyday home use!
My girls are already asking to make more gummies! They are by far the best we’ve ever had!

The kits are extremely affordable at $13 each and they can be ordered HERE!
